From African Soil to Global Soul: Black Art Unbound
Founded in Lyon in 2017, Blawo is more than an online gallery—it’s a bridge between cultures, generations, and collectors. We celebrate the richness of Black and African art, from ancestral masks and reliquaries to bold contemporary works. Every piece is selected for authenticity, cultural integrity, and artistic merit—ethically sourced, carefully vetted, and shipped insured from France. With a Blawo Certificate of Authenticity for eligible works, you can collect with confidence—whether you’re buying your first piece, curating a design project, or expanding a seasoned collection.
Our Story
Blawo was founded in Lyon in 2017 with a clear idea: build a trusted, respectful way to discover and collect Black and African art—traditional and contemporary—without replicas, clichés, or unclear provenance.
Why Lyon ? Because it keeps us grounded and connected: to artists, families, and collectors across Africa and the diaspora—and to Europe’s design and museum networks. From Lyon, we source ethically, document carefully, and ship insured from France, so you can collect with confidence, wherever you are.

Through BlawoMAG and our social platforms, we feature inspiring artists from across the globe, offering free biographies, interviews, and spotlights that celebrate their talent and heritage.
Each feature is a tribute to their journey, their identity, and their voice.
Founder’s Note
Blawo is more than a marketplace. It’s a personal mission.
When I started this journey, I wanted to honor the deep cultural roots and artistic genius found across the African continent and diaspora.
From Lyon, we spotlight authentic works and the human stories behind them.
Each piece we source is a celebration of heritage, identity, and artistic truth, meant to be seen, understood, and passed on.
This is my way of giving back.
Blawo exists because I believe Black art deserves global reverence, not silence.
